THE RAF YEARS
1990-2008
In June 1990 Scott started his military career as non-commissioned aircrew in the Royal Air Force, a journey that was to last for what he describes as, "the fastest 18-years of my life". Starting as Sergeant Aircrew (Air Loadmaster) and after significant support and encouragement from his pers and superiors was successful in being selected for pilot training in 1997. Scott started his flying on the C-130 as a loadmaster and returned there to commence his pilot training.
By his own admission, Scott was a distinctly average military pilot who worked with and alongside some exceptionally talented crew members. Scott was privileged to serve as a Loadmaster, Co-Pilot, and Captain on the revered 47 Squadron during what was the most frenetic time for the C-130 fleet in its almost 6 decades history. The operational tempo was described by many as relentless and Scott saw active service across the globe as well as crisis management tours in the UK supporting the Home Office.
The last flying role of Scott's military career was flying the Britten Norman Islander BN-2T in a specialist role at RAF Northolt.
An injury whilst on operations meant that Scott was unable to continue his service in the manner that he would have wanted, so it was with a heavy heart, Scott left the RAF in 2008 to further his career aspirations elsewhere.
Scott is a proud veteran who owes much to his service and those who supported and believed in his potential to succeed. If asked if he would do it all again, he replies always, "in a heartbeat!"
